ABOUT THE LIFE GROUPS

What is a discipleship Life Group?

Life Groups are small groups of about 2-10 kids of the same gender and age range, who meet on a regular basis for discipleship through Bible study, prayer, fellowship, and fun activities. They meet with the effort of encouraging each other on their walk with Jesus, while building meaningful friendships.

We call them Life Groups because we believe that even kids need to live the Christian life within a community of believers, meeting weekly, plus occasional fun outings that help kids learn to "do life" together.

Isn't Children's Church/Sunday School/ Youth Group enough?

Children's Church, Sunday School, and Youth Group are wonderful tools in reaching kids for Jesus! Life Groups are NOT a replacement…they’re just another tool!

Life Groups provide a great way to disciple kids into a deeper relationship with Jesus.

Since they’re small, they allow for more discussion and less intimidation for some kids.

When you group Life Groups by gender & age, kids feel more comfortable talking about sensitive topics that pertain specifically to their needs.

How do I start a Life Group?

Check out our blog HERE that goes into extensive detail, describing the ins and outs of starting your own Life Group for kids.

What are the costs associated with starting a kid’s discipleship Life Group?/How can I budget for a Life Group?

A Life Group is a great way to keep your kids involved and active in an affordable way. In a time of high inflation, having kids participate in a Life Group can be much more affordable than some of the other expensive lessons, sports, and programs.

Some of the costs associated with running a group are:

-$15 a month for the Life Group Kits

-Craft/activity supplies at each meeting

-Snack at each meeting

-Occasional Outings

-Optional items for the kids (ie. Group T-shirts, end-of-year awards, Birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, prizes for behavior, Bibles, etc.)

Ways to Budget for group costs:

-Collect an annual amount from each group member.

-Collect a monthly amount from each group member.

-Raise money through fundraisers.

-Rotate who provides snack at each meeting.

-Rotate who provides the group activity materials each meeting.

-Seek a donation from your church or Christian organization.

 How/Where should groups meet?

Groups can meet in many different formats:

Small Groups: Just like adult small groups meet within the church, our kits can be used to form a small Life Group for kids within the church.

Homeschool Co-op: You can use our kits to offer a  co-op class that is geared towards Bible study and fun.

After-School Program: Some schools have after-school groups that meet up regularly. Check with the administration to see if they will allow you to form a group and use our kits for Bible study and fun.

Youth Ministry Breakout Groups: After the main Youth Group session, you can group the kids by gender and age to use our kits for a breakout small group session.

When your group is formed under your church or Christian organization, you can discuss the best meeting location with them.

How many children should be in each group?

Small Life Groups can be less intimidating for kids and can promote deeper connection with meaningful discussion. To keep the groups small, we recommend your Life Groups be somewhere between 2-10 kids for every 2 adult leaders.

How frequently should we meet?

In order to build strong friendships and truly learn to do life together, we recommend the Life Groups meet weekly in most cases. Meeting weekly keeps the excitement up and helps the kids remember what was shared from the previous week.

Why should the Life Groups be grouped by gender/age?

Our mission is to help create safe spaces for girls and guys to speak about issues and experiences that relate specifically to them. The groups should be girl groups or guy groups— not a combination of both.

We know that often times girls feel more comfortable being transparent and speaking about sensitive issues with other girls, and the same is true for guys.

In addition to gender, the way topics are discussed varies depending on the age of the children.

Do we need matching T-shirts?

Not at all! Some groups will like to wear the t-shirts to each meeting (think scouts uniform) and some will like to wear them only on group Outings. T-Shirts are totally optional, but some groups will love the cohesiveness and unity that they bring.

They also make great gifts or prizes!

ABOUT OUR KITS

What are discipleship Life Group Kits?

Our Life Group Kits are digital download resources that include everything you need to lead your own life group for kids.

Our kits are designed specifically for discipling kids in the ways of the Lord, and building godly community amongst small groups of kids.

The lessons are not "preach/listen" or "lecture/spectator" style. They instead, emphasize discussion and allow kids to take an active role in participating through sharing their ideas, opinions, experiences, and testimonies while still being guided towards the truths found in God's Word.

Learn more HERE

What is included in each Life Group Kit?

We believe in a holistic approach to discipling children on their walk with Christ. They need more than just a once-a-week lesson. That's why each kit includes multiple tools to help kids build a deeper relationship with God.

Included in each kit:

1. 4 Weekly Discussion-based, topical Bible studies for kids that encourage Bible reading, praying for each other, and sharing testimonies.

2. Ice-Breaker games to kick off each lesson and warm kids up to better participate.

3. 4 Weekly Lesson Journals that help kids grasp the truths learned in each lesson on a deeper level.

4. Scripture Memory Cards for the group to memorize together, as well as individual cards that allow each child to practice hiding God's Word in their hearts at home.

5. A month's worth of Devotionals (or Prayer Journals for 1st-2nd grade) that lead kids in their daily time with God at home.

6. A Group Values poster that reinforces how things are done in your group. These statements set the tone for a safe, welcoming, and positive environment at every meeting.

7. A Parent Newsletter that explains what kids are learning and offers conversation starters to help continue the discussion at home.

8. A "Salvation Flier" that equips you with the message of salvation to lead a child to Christ when they are ready.

Everything is scripted, easy to use, and in digital format that you can download and print.

How can I purchase a kit?

There are 2 ways to purchase the kits.

1. Buy them individually.

2. Subscribe to the Life Group Delivery Service.

With this option, every month you will receive a credit in the form of a code, to redeem ANY kit you would like.

You will also receive access to a Video Gallery full of activities to do with your group at each meeting!

How are the Life Group Kits different from other kids Bible Studies?

There are many awesome Bible studies for kids and tweens out there! But there are a few things that set our Life Group Kits apart from others.

1. They are small group focused & discussion-based.

Most of the lessons out there are written for Children’s Church or Youth Group which means they are a lot more broad and don’t tend to focus on discussion (since there’s not enough time for all the kids to share their thoughts). They’re perfect for large groups but might leave you struggling to come up with questions to extend the conversation in a small group setting.

Our kits are written with discipleship and small groups in mind. Our discussion-based curriculum is designed to help kids feel comfortable opening up during meetings while giving them the tools to continue their studying at home.

2. They take a holistic, well-rounded approach to discipleship.

Learning is not one-size-fits-all. Some kids will immediately take in the lesson being taught in the meeting. Other kids will learn better by participating in group discussions. It won't click with others until they get home and have some personal quiet time to think and apply what they're learning to their own lives.

Our Life Group Kits touch on different ways that kids can connect and learn. Each kit has discussion-based lessons and journals for the meeting. They also have resources for at-home reinforcement like our memory verse cards, devotionals/prayer journals, and newsletters with parent & child connection ideas.

3. They are economical.

Purchasing all the resources our Life Group Kits provide for each child separately can add up to quite a bit. But since our products are digital, you get unlimited printing within your group, cutting back on costs.

What ages are the Life Group Kits for?

The Life Group Kits are divided by gender and designed for 3 levels:

  • 1st-2nd Grade (Guys OR Girls)
  • 3rd-5th Grade (Guys OR Girls)
  • 6th-8th Grade (Guys OR Girls)

*Based on American grade levels

What Life Group Kit should we start with?

The Life Group Kits are not sequential so you can start with whichever kit you’d like! If you’re having trouble choosing, we recommend starting with the “Learning Truth” kits to begin with the fundamentals and foundation of our Christian faith.

You can also let the kids vote each month on what kit they want, or discern & pray about what issues your group may be dealing with and choose corresponding kits.

How are the meetings structured? How long should meetings last?

Using our Life Group Kits, meetings typically run about 1.5-2 hours. But this should be adjusted depending on the group activities that you choose.

Click HERE to see our recommended meeting timeline.

Can I share the resources within the kits and/or video gallery?

We would love for you to share about our kits with people you know! However, the resources within the kits and the bonus Video Gallery are to be used for the member’s personal group only. You may print as many copies of the resources that you need to use within your group.

You may not distribute the resources to other leaders or groups outside of your own. If you know someone who might be interested in starting their own group, please send them the link to our website where they can have a look at what our Life Group Kits have to offer!
